Spindrift has been independently rated as an 8.3 energy efficiency home, placing it in the top echelons of passive solar homes in Australia. The home consumes an average of 2kWh of electricity from the grid per day – or around 700kWh per year. This is about 1/20th of the energy grid usage of an average Victorian home, which consumes around 4,400kWh per year.
